A (Brief) Cruise on the Nile

Monday, August 30, 2004

In the evening of the day we went to the Pyramids, we took an hour-long ride on a felucca (an Egyptian sailboat) along the Nile. We sailed on a part of the Nile south of Cairo, near the suburb of Maadi. There was very little wind, so we essentially floated, but it was quite nice out there on the water.

Felucca boats docked along the shore near Maadi.

A Pepsi-sponsored Felucca (things here are so different--and yet so similar :-)

Left to right: Klaus (h.s. art teacher from Canada, real laid back and fun) and his wife Dilene, Vera (science teacher from Boston).

Some buildings along the river.

Sunset on the Nile...

Isn't it lovely?

Skyscrapers along the Nile.
